You know, the more I write, the busier I get? This may sound like a very, "well, duh," thing to say, but it's true. In the nicest way possible, the more work I do, the more work I seem to get. Nice to be wanted - and I throw no shade at that subject.

Even before I flew out to StokerCon last month, I was playing catch-up. Primarily with edits on work due to land before the year is out. Once I was at StokerCon, the usual happened, a heady and full-on four days, during which time, some new business shook loose. As a result, there's another piece to start work on. The last thing I wrote was handed back to the publisher a couple of days ago. And yet, I still have edits on the new novel to do (and I'm pretty sure I wrote that over a year ago). There's also the next novel that I want to start the basic outlining and researching on.

In spite of these things, I'm ultimately grateful that I don't get writer's block. Thankfully, I get ideas faster than I can write them, so I'm forever running as I try and catch up to the muse.

And now, I'm again playing catch up - this time before I fly out to Toronto for FanExpo come month end. This trip is primarily holiday; downtime with a bunch of my Canadian friends but, as is often the case, I may pick up some business while I'm there. Given that the four-day FanExpo sees over 100,000 people in terms of foot traffic, there's a good chance of a new connect, a new opportunity, etc. Even if that's not directly with the local (Ontario) chapter of the HWA, FanExpo still host a degree of horror programming. And let's not forget the various vendors of horror media, whether it's collectibles, film/tv, games, etc.

In terms of what I need to currently catch up on, it includes (but isn't limited to) time supporting my mentees, along with the critical/beta reads I do for some of my peers. The website needs an overhaul - among other things, I really should start posting an itinerary on where I'll be and what I'll be doing... And let's not forget that I still need to do edits on the latest novel, before I start doing the basic outlining and research for the new novel.

All of which I'm trying to wrap up in the three weeks before I fly back out to Canada.
